China to host international retailing fair

More than 100 transnational retail giants will attend the Second International Retail Group Procurement Fair for transnational retail giants from April 9 to 11 in Xiamen, a coastal city in southeastern China's Fujian Province.
About 2,000 enterprises are expected to attend the three-day fair, co-sponsored by China's State Economic and Trade Commission,Xiamen city government and the Fujian Provincial Economic and Trade Commission, according to Zhang Yanhua, a senior official with China's State Economic and Trade Commission (SETC).
The products and commodities on display during the fair will mainly fall into 10 categories involving articles of daily use, textiles and clothing, shoes and caps, furniture, office goods, sports goods, gifts, toys, arts and crafts, electronic appliances,food and drinks, hardware tools and building materials.
Transnational retail giants attending the fair will include Walmart, Carrefour and Metro.
The official said the fair was aimed at boosting cooperation between the transnationals and excellent Chinese suppliers, giving more China-made quality commodities access to the markets worldwide.
The First International Retail Group Procurement Fair was held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, in April last year, he added. It attracted more than 30 retail giants around the world and 1,100 Chinese suppliers. Some 300 enterprises placed orders at the fair.
