China to launch first overseas radio service in Kenya

China Radio International (CRI), China's only radio station running overseas service, said on Thursday it is going to launch FM radio service in Nairobi, capital of Kenya, on Saturday.
The FM radio station, CRI's first abroad, will provide 19 hours of CRI programs in English, Swahili and Chinese a day to the 2 million residents in Nairobi.
The programs will tell the audience about China's economic, social and cultural development, China's friendly exchanges with African countries and major event around the world.
The audience will also be able to enjoy featured music from China, Africa and the rest of the world and take part in programs arranged by the station, including airing greetings to relatives and friends at the request of the audience.
"The launch of the station signifies a major step to consolidate and strengthen the great friendship between the governments and people of China and Kenya," said Tian Jin, deputy director of China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.
It will provide the Kenyan people a quicker, easier access to the latest developments in China and the rest of the world as well,Tian said in a congratulation message. |
