Chinese Air Company Managers Get IATA Certificates

Seventy senior managerial personnel from Shanghai Airlines on recently were awarded graduation certificates for passing examinations in four specialties offered by the International Air Transport Association(IATA). Sources from the Shanghai company say that nearly 600 company workers underwent training programs operated by IATA which was founded in 1945 and has its headquarters in Montreal, Canada. Shanghai Airlines is one of the few Chinese air companies which has IATA membership. IATA is an international organization aimed at promoting worldwide safe, regular and economical air transport. Presently 98 percent of the world's regular cargo flights are carried out by IATA members. With a 16 year history, Shanghai Airlines ranks sixth among Chinese air companies in terms of total transport turnover. It has grown from a firm with a registered capital of 14.1 million U.S. dollars to a company with assets totaling 78.3 million U.S. dollars. The company transported 3.33 million passengers and 100,000 tons of cargo last year. |
