Thirteen people were taken to hospital after a China Eastern Airlines plane lost cabin pressure and made a forced landing at Changbei Airport in Nanchang, capital city of east China's Jiangxi Province, Tuesday evening, airport sources said Wednesday. Most of the 65 passengers on board complained of suffering heart palpitations, earache and bleeding from their mouths and 13 were taken to Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital for treatment after landing, said Wang Qingshan, duty manager at the Jiangxi branch of the China Eastern Airlines. Flight MU5406, left Kunming, in southwest China's Yunnan Province, on a scheduled flight for Shanghai, but lost pressure at a height of 8,100 meters over Nanchang. The plane landed at about 17:21 Tuesday after the crew took emergency measures and failed to restore pressure. The aircraft was a Boeing MD-82 which is no longer in production. China Eastern had arranged another plane to carry the passengers to Shanghai, which took off at Changbei Airport at 8:00 Wednesday, the airport sources said. |
