Discounts attract more low-income people to Arts Festival
|
19-Nov-2004 - |
The Shanghai News Daily says local residents can enjoy world-class art performances at the ongoing 6th Shanghai International Arts Festival at half-price. According to the report, more than 100 performances of over 60 shows will be staged during the annual arts event, which closes at the end of month. However, prices have led many residents to complain that tickets are unaffordable. The cheapest costs about 100 Yuan, or $12 dollars. The article says that to allow more low-income families to enjoy the art event the city government has requested the festival organizers to provide discount tickets. Many corporations and institutions have offered to bear part of the costs. This year's Art Festival is expected to attract more than 400 000 fans and now tickets at discounts of up to 50 percent will be available for some 100,000 locals. |
