East China port Qingdao hosts more tourists

Qingdao, a popular summer resort in east China's Shandong province, hosted 18.367 million tourists last year. Breaking down that figure, domestic tourists made up 17.95 million, up 18.15 percent from 2001, and tourists from overseas totaled 417,000, a rise of 29.2 percent, and some 43 percent of all overseas tourists to Shandong province, said sources from the Qingdao City Tourism Administration. The city earned 240 million US dollars from overseas tourism and 13.06 billion yuan (about 1.57 billion US dollars) from domestic tourism in the past year, up 35.1 percent and 27.01 percent respectively. |
