VISITOR arrivals to Nepal grew 49.6 per cent in May to 27,759 compared to the same period a year ago.
Except for Sri Lanka, which suffered a dip of 28 per cent, Nepal saw strong growth from all its key markets.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board India grew by more than 27.9 per cent in May 2007 compared to May 2006, Asia by 214.5 per cent, Australia by 30.9 per cent and the US by 71.1 per cent.
Europe contributed to one-third of visitor arrivals and the key markets of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain registered growth of between 48.4 per cent up to 169.4 per cent.
The board said the shortage of air seats to Nepal continued to hamper further growth. |
