First two China-made regional jets take off

The first two ERJ-145 50-passenger regional jet airliners made in China have been formally put into operation this month at the Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province. The two jets, purchased by China Southern, one of the largest airlines in China, are used to fly 16 regional routes from GuangZhou from July 1st, according to Hao Jianhua, vice-president of China Southern earlier. Taking the jets, passengers need to pay only 10 yuan for airport construction fee and those who buy a daily-return ticket are only required to pay 10 yuan for the two flights. Each of the jets has with it a boarding ladder, so passengers can get aboard directly. Washrooms are set at the back of the jets. Ventilation outlets and reading lamps are available on each seat. The regional jet airliners were produced by Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry Company Ltd., a joint venture between Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and two subsidiaries of China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. The new GuangZhou Baiyun International Airport is planned to open on August 5th this year, source releases. |
