Fossil Eggs Found in Guizhou Province

Eight dinosaur fossil eggs were unearthed at a construction site in Huizhou in Guizhou Province. Experts from the Guizhou Museum identified them as the eggs of a dinosaur breed that became extinct during the Cretaceous period 6.5 billion years ago. The fossils provide important clues about the geographic changes in Huizhou before the Cretaceous period. Cao Taoyuan found the fossils while excavating a building eight meters deep. When he realized the speed of his pneumatic drill was accelerated he immediately turned off the drill, asked his wife and began to manually dig with great care. He soon unearthed the fossils. Cao Xuejun, curator of Huizhou Museum, said that more than 80 dinosaur fossil eggs were found near Huabianling Mountain some hundreds of meters away from Huizhou in 1989. |
