The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on Tuesday issued the first certificate allowing general aviation companies to take part in passenger and freight transport.
With the certificate, the company Feilong Aviation Co. Ltd. could run scheduled fights with planes and helicopters less than 19 seats, and unscheduled flights with planes and helicopters boasting 30 seats.
General aviation refers to all civil aviation activities except scheduled passenger flights, and mainly involves agricultural flights, emergency rescue, cultural and sports activities, ocean and environment exploration and business flights.
Feilong, based in Harbin, capital of northeastern Heilongjiang Province, was set up in 1981 and became the first local general aviation company with the approval of the CAAC. It has 49 planes of seven models at present.
