|
17-Dec-2002 - |
Two German-made metro coaches arrived in south China's GuangZhou City recently aboard a jumbo jet cargo plane, marking a first in the global aviation history. Four more such coaches are expected to be delivered in the next two weeks aboard the same An-124-100 cargo plane, one of the world's largest, according to reliable sources. The six coaches, produced by Bombardier Transport of Germany, will form the first train that will begin operation on the city's No. 2 metro line on Dec. 29. The No. 2 metro line will have 156 coaches for 26 trains, which will be supplied at a cost of 1.54 billion yuan (about 186 millionU.S. dollars). Under the contract, the first 12 coaches will be produced by Bombardier Transport while the rest will be manufactured by ChangChun Bombardier, a joint venture between Bombardier Transport of Germany and a rail coach producer of China in northeast China's ChangChun City. |
