HONG KONG, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Police have experience, confidence, sufficient resources and expertise to tackle any situation which may arise during the Olympic Equestrian Events to be held in Hong Kong, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Hong Kong Police Henrique Koo said here Saturday.
Speaking on a radio talk show Saturday morning, Koo said, the police and the Equestrian Company have formulated contingency measures including staff deployment plans to ensure safety at the Olympic Equestrian Events.
Koo noted the city's security threat is moderate, and there is no evidence suggesting Hong Kong will be a terrorist target during the games.
Hong Kong Police will maintain close liaison with the Chinese mainland and overseas law-enforcement agencies, he said, adding security measures will be enhanced when necessary.
As public alertness is essential, Koo also urged people to inform the police of any suspicious activity, stay calm in case of unexpected incidents and follow the police's instructions. |
