Half of Chinese outbound tourists choose comfort

ACCORDING to the Nielson China Outbound Monitor 2007 Chinese outbound travellers like to travel in comfort and spend an average of US$3,000 per person per trip.
The study was conducted by global information and media company - The Nielson Company, and PATA. It provides insight into Chinese business and leisure travellers from Beijing, Shanghai and GuangZhou including their behaviour, attitudes and opinions towards various destinations, and provides insight into decision making processes, information sourcing, booking choices and accommodation.
The research showed than one third of Chinese outbound travellers choose to stay in four-star hotels with a further 10 per cent opting for five-star luxury accommodation.
Travellers to Europe were the biggest spenders (US$5,253 per person per trip on average), while travellers to Asia spent less (US$1,904) with the exception of those headed to Hong Kong and Macau (US$2,185). |
