Silk Road Travel Agency Limited,a company which is devoted to organizing cultural and leisure tours along the ancient Silk Road on the Chinese mainland, recently announced eight new cultural tour schemes for 2002.

These new tour programs, under the theme of "Total Cultural Experience", include Ancient Silk Road, Desert, Tibetan Buddhism, Islam, Grassland, Highland, Tang Dynasty and Manchu.

Janny Yau, manager of tour operation, said the programs are aimed at meeting the tourists' interests in art, culture, history,crafts, architecture, religion and lifestyle of China's rich and ancient heritage and giving them deep understanding of China's fabulous contributions to civilization.

One of the attraction of the tours is that tourists will be accommodated in four culture hotels developed by the travel agency's mother company, the North West Development Limited, which focuses on development of cultural resources in northern and western China.

The four hotels are Tsongkha Hotel in Qinghai, Dunhuang Hotel in Gansu, Turpan Oasis Hotel in Xinjiang and Lu Song Yuan Hotel in Beijing. The company claimed that cultural hotel is an original hotel concept conceived by it.

Tourists staying in those hotels will have the opportunity to experience the local life style, learn about the local history, and at the same time enjoy modern hotel amenities, Yau said.
