|
31-May-2002 - |
Nearly 1,000 representatives from aviation industries around the world are expected to attend the 58th annual meeting of International Air Transport Association (IATA) from June 2 to 4 in Shanghai.
The meeting will focus on ways to rebuild consumer confidence, issues concerning security and insurance after the September 11 terrorist attacks against the United States, and China's air transport market and its prospects.
The meeting will be hosted by China Eastern Airlines, a Shanghai-based international airline with about 70 Boeing and Airbus passenger planes flying on 200 domestic and international air routes.
Established in 1945, the Geneva-based IATA is the world's leading non-governmental organization representing about 300 airlines around the world.
Its responsibility includes regulating international aviation prices, unifying regulations on transport, helping inter-airline financial settlements and implementing international standards and procedures formulated by international civil aviation organizations. |
