Lijiang-HK Temporary Flight Opens

A temporary charter flight from Lijiang to Hong Kong will open on January 15th. It will faciliate increased transportation between the two places during the festival holidays.
The officials at the Port Section of the Department of Commerce in Yunnan Province said that according to approval from the Bureau of Customs House, the course from Lijiang can fly directly to Hong Kong during the period from September 1st, 2005, to February 28th, 2006.
According to records at Lijiang Airport, the number of tourists between Lijiang and Hong Kong rises dramatically around the Spring Festival. Each year, Lijiang Airport opens this route to meet the needs of passengers. This year it will fly every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, at individual ticket prices of 3,307 RMB each. Moreover, appropriate discounts will be applicable for advance or group reservations.
With the increasing fame of Lijiang both at home and abroad, passenger transit and the number of take-offs and landings increase sharply. Passenger tallies rose from 19 thousand to one million between 1995 and 2005. In addition, a total of 10,000 take-offs and landings at Lijiang Airport took place in 2005, up from only 162 in 1995.
