Macao's Secretary for Social Affairs, Culture Visits Guangdong

Fernando Chui Sai On, secretary for social affairs and culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), left Macao Monday for a four-day visit to three cities in the neighboring Guangdong Province. Chui's visit to Guangzhou, Zhaoqing and Shenzhen is aimed at enhancing friendship and cementing tourism links between Macao and Guangdong, and during the visit, the Macao official is scheduled to meet with local authorities and exchange opinions on further cooperation in 2003, a government spokesman has said. Chui will visit a number of scenic spots in Guangdong, the spokesman said, adding that Macao and Guangdong are seeking to jointly develop regional tourism to lure visitors by promoting new Macao-Guangdong tourist itineraries. Chui's 25-member delegation includes officials from the Macao Government Tourist Office and the Information Bureau of the SAR government, and president of the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies. |
