Macao supports construction of HK-Macao-Zhuhai bridge: chief executive
|
2-Dec-2002 - |
Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administration Region (SAR) Edmund Ho Hau Wah said here recently that his government holds an "active" attitude towards the construction of a cross-sea bridge linking Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai in south China. "We support all transport networks and basic facilities that benefit Hong Kong, Macao and the Pearl River delta," he said when answering inquiries from local legislators about his policy address for 2003. But he added, "it is not the right time now for the construction of the bridge, since there are still several plans for the project." It needs a process and support from the central government, the chief executive said. He warned that a number of industries and enterprises, especially some small and medium-sized enterprises, will meet with challenges even after the bridge is built. "The bridge will benefit Macao as a whole, though," he said. |
