The mainland has decided to give preferencial policy in agricultural and tourist trade with Taiwan. The Chinese mainland government decides to implement new policy in agricultural and tourist trade with Taiwan as the island's opposition party leader Lien Chan ended his last day of visits. Chen Yunlin, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office under the State Council, said in Shanghai Tuesday that the mainland decided to increase the admittance of Taiwan fruits from 12 species to 18 species. It will also offer no tariffs on more than 10 species of the fruits, and will be ready to assist these products to go through customs procedures. The latest statistics released by the Agriculture Council in Taiwan show that a quarter of Taiwan's farm products, valued at 300 million US dollars, are sold to the Chinese mainland every year with the numbers still rising. Chen Yunlin also announced the mainland will soon allow its residents to tour Taiwan, a move considered beneficial to increasing understanding across the straits. |
