Mainland individuals visiting HK exceed 18 mln

The number of people who made individual tours to Hong Kong from the mainland has exceeded 18 million by turnstile count, said Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region when he attended the Special Finance Committee Meeting in Hong Kong on Monday.
Since Hong Kong opened individual tours to the mainland in July, 2003, individual tours have developed to cover 49 cities in the mainland now. The tours have generated great profits in Hong Kong's tourism, catering and other related sectors, he said.
In future, the Hong Kong SAR government will take more measures so that more people from the mainland can travel to Hong Kong via individual tours, he added. |
