China's tourism industry is forecast to generate 2.5 percent of GDP and more than 14.8 million jobs, while the broader tourism economy is expected to total 11.4 percent of GDP and create more than 62.3 million jobs this year. Richard Miller, WTTC executive vice president said China will reap the biggest benefits. China will undoubtedly benefit most from tourism. Just look at the domestic travel market. Hong Kong and Macau will do well, but China itself will see travel and tourism as a growth driver for its economy. Miller told TravelWeekly. The infrastructure is in place to facilitate travel. The CNTA has also taken on a number of initiatives that follow our lines of thought with regard to property and opening up outbound travel. The latest Schengen agreement is a good example of how China is moving forward, he said. |
