NE China Benefits from Foreign Investments

Foreign entrepreneurs are showing more interest in China's northeastern region, well known as the country's centre for heavy industry.
Foreign investment in the three northeastern provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang grew by over 80 percent from the previous year.
A State Council official says the Chinese government will continue to rejuvenate the country's old industrial bases by reforming outdated systems that might constrict local economic development.
The official also notes that China's northeast will accelerate the opening up process this year.
Last year, the three provinces gained six billion US dollars in foreign investment, an 80 percent increase from 2003. |
