New airways linking Yellow River Delta, major chinese cities

The recent landing of a Boeing 737 passenger plane at Dongying airport has marked the opening of the first airport in the Yellow River Delta region. The airport is 13 km away from Dongying city in Shandong Province, east China. With a capacity for handling 120,000 passengers, the airport will have flights to link the region and Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Harbin, Tianjin, Korla of Xinjiang and some other cities in China. The airport was built in 1985 but was not put into operation until recently. Local officials say the opening of the airport will facilitate the development of the Yellow River Delta region.
