New square to be built at downtown Guangzhou

The proposal of a city square built among Guangzhou's Garden Hotel, Baiyun Hotel, Friendship Store and World Trade Center will start construction this year. The square, which will be a symbolic building in Guangzhou, will take about 3 to 5 years to finish. The square will cover an area of 4.5 hectares, or 45,000 square meters, and consists of two circular small squares. Under the square, there will have a subway and shops. The square will become an open stage for performances, entertainments and exhibitions.
