|
28-Jan-2002 - |
Nearly 500 more kilometers of expressways will be completed and put into operation this year in north China's Shanxi Province, according to the provincial department of communications. This means the total operational expressways in the province will exceed 1,000 kilometers in 2002, the department officials said. The province started to build a 660-kilometer expressway connecting the cities of Datong and Yuncheng in 2000, the major section of which will be finished this year. The expressway is expected to be fully operational in 2003. In addition, two expressways respectively linking with the neighboring provinces of Hebei and Henan will also be completed this year, department officials said, adding several others will soon start to be built within the province. Shanxi Province has stepped up the construction of its expressway network, which has greatly improved local traffic conditions, the officials said. |
