The Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau visited Beijing, Shanghai, GuangZhou and Hong Kong from April 19 to 23 with a delegation of 21 member committees and 30 representatives to meet more than 500 travel industry representatives in China. The contingent was led by Paris Tourism Bureau chief and deputy mayor, Mr Paul Roll. Mr Roll said since the launch of China Culture Year in Paris last October, there had been much interaction between two countries. The Chinese government also recently Approved Destination Status (ADS) to France. In 2003, 450,000 Chinese tourists visited Paris. Paris Tourism Authorities are confident that in a decade, China will become one of the city's three major inbound markets. Mr Roll said in the past, promotions focused on Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, but with a great response in Chengdu to the Paris Tourism Bureau's marketing efforts last year, it plans to visit more secondary Chinese cities to expand the market. |
