An exhibition of photos on natural and cultural sites in southwestern Sichuan province debuted on Apr.17 in Tokyo, said sources with the provincial information office. At this show, visitors can enjoy nearly 100 photos on Sichuan's landscapes, history and nationalities, which were selected from approximately 10,000 photos from about 1,000 local photographers. "We hope that this exhibition can attract more foreign tourists by showing our unique natural and cultural sites," said Zhao Ying, deputy director of Information Office of the Sichuan provincial government. Sichuan is home to beautiful Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong landscapes, the ancient Dujiangyan irrigation network, elegant, lush-green Qingcheng and Emei mountains and the gigantic Leshan Grand Buddha statue, all of which are included in the world cultural or natural heritage list of the United Nations Scientific,Educational and Cultural Organization. Sichuan province is also home to the giant panda and the newly-discovered Sanxingdui ruins, which is reputed for its abundant cultural relics dating back more than 2,000 years. |
