Price cuts expected on Australian tour
|
8-Nov-2004 - |
Price cuts of up to ten percent are likely to spark an Australian tour between November and December this year, the Shanghai Morning Post reported today. As the tour cost to Australia equals that of at least three or maybe five European countries, many travelers in Shanghai preferred to travel to Europe during the weeklong National Day holiday. In a bid to attract more travelers, the Australian tourism authority will invest 5.7 million Australian dollars (US$4.3 million) in its Chinese promotions in the fiscal year starting July, an increase of nearly 80 percent as compared to before. It is Australia's largest-ever promotional expenditure in China. Next month, Royal Brunei Airlines will launch a flight from Shanghai to Australia via the capital of Brunei. On December 2, Australia's Qantas Airways will resume another direct flight from Shanghai to Australia, with the airfares likely to decline. |
