Property premiums exceeded 122.9b yuan last year

China's property premiums are estimated to have exceeded 122.9 billion yuan (15 billion U.S. dollars) in 2005, 1.1 times the figure for 2000, which stood at 59.8 billion yuan, China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) statistics showed on Friday.
Over the past five years, auto insurance has grown at an annual rate of 18.58 percent.
There are 40 property insurance companies (including reinsurance companies) in China, with Chinese property insurance companies standing at 24, and foreign-funded ones at 16.
Since 2004, insurance businesses involving liability, agriculture, life accident and investment saving, have grown rapidly and become a new growth point.
