Special report: 2008 Olympic Games
BEIJING, April 28 -- As the host of the Olympic sailing competition, the coastal city of Qingdao has unveiled its newly-built Olympic village, which is expected to accommodate 700 athletes and coaches.
The village is situated inside the city's Olympic Sailing Center, making it a few minutes' walk from the sailing venue. Designed as a five-star hotel, the village is equipped with facilities for athletes and coaches, including those for Paralympic athletes. Apart from the residential area, the village is a multi-functional complex, complete with international and operational areas, and a park.
It will be put to use early next month for an international sailing competition, and will be open to Olympic athletes from the end of July.
