A State Council meeting has been held to discuss the closure of bankrupt state-owned enterprises. The meeting is chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao. A State Council meeting has been held to discuss the closure of bankrupt state-owned enterprises.
The meeting, chaired by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing, stated the importance of making arrangements for the laid-off workers from these enterprises in accordance with their legal rights.
The meeting also clarified that it is a special government policy to shut down some state-owned enterprises.
The downward tendency of large and medium sized state-owned enterprises plays an important role in adjusting the national economic structure.
Some state-owned enterprises were suffering from financial losses and have long been unable to go back into the black.
