Seaside Getaways Prove Popular in Shanghai

As a heat wave sweeps through Shanghai, more and more residents are planning a temporary escape to seaside resorts around the metropolis. Local travel agencies report sales of tour packages to Shandong Peninsula and Dalian in Liaoning Province have increased between 100 and 200 percent since the beginning of this month. Qingdao in East China's Shandong Province and Dalian in Northeast China's Liaoning Province are regarded as ideal vacation spots for cool summer getaways. More people are expected to travel to these areas during the rest of the month and August and the prices of these routes will rise as they grow in popularity. Meanwhile, Hainan Island is another hot spot. While seaside resorts make a summer splash, mountainous areas in neighboring provinces such as Mogan Mountain and Buddhist Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province are also proving popular. |
