The most popular landmark of Tian'ai Road is a green mailbox for the love messages
In Shanghai, the residents (of Hongkou District) call it the 'path of lovers'. The street name, Tian 'ai, literally means 'sweet love'. In fact, this road has nothing very special, there are no ancient monuments, there are no showy attractions of any kind. The special thing of Tian'ai Road is primarily this, that is just the street of lovers. A cozy atmosphere and a bit mysterious, dozens of couples strolling, stone slabs with engraved love poems. There is also a special mailbox, on the letters that start from here is also put the postmark 'Love'.
The legend of Tian'ai
Tian'ai Road is of limited size, 530 meters long and 15 meters wide (track 7 meters). It is said that this place brings good luck to couples. The lovers who walk hand in hand here along the road will remain forever in love. The legend tells of a beautiful girl named Tianai, raised and educated in a wealthy family, who fell in love with a boy, very good but poor. Both families opposed this union, but the two young people did so much and fought, until their engagement was accepted. So, even though it seemed an impossible love, ultimately prevailed the spontaneity of love, and the two young people were able to live fully their love.
The green mailbox for love messages
The most popular landmark of Tian'ai Road is a green mailbox for the love messages. Individuals can write and send messages of love to their sweetheart, couples can write and send loving thoughts to themselves. All messages will be delivered by superimposing the seal 'Love'. Among the things to see in Tian'ai Road, there are 28 famous love poems (written on stone carving) set along the walls of the street. After the walk, to rest and breathe the sweet atmosphere of the place still for a while, you can stop at Tian'ai Cafe'. It is a romantic place, purpose-built for lovers, where every detail enhances and reproduces the prevailing theme of love. |
