Shanghai raises fuel prices
|
19-Oct-2005 - Xinhua |
Shanghai's fuel prices are increasing, both for domestic and motoring use.
Officials say the hikes are due to higher international oil prices. Liquefied petroleum gas for home use is up 4 yuan to 74 yuan per cylinder. Prices are allowed to float within a range of 8 percent, with a ceiling price of 83 yuan.
LPG for cars is increasing 10 percent to 2.97 yuan per liter. Taxi divers will definitely be one group to feel the pinch.
A taxi uses around 60 liters of LPG per day and the price rise will add around 20 yuan a day to cabbies' costs.
Currently, a third of Shanghai's 40,000 taxis use LPG.
