|
24-Sep-2004 - |
The Shaolin Temple is again open to tourists and Chinese martial arts enthusiasts. The newly renovated temple is now able to accommodate over 10,000 visitors a day, compared to 3,000 previously.
Earlier this year, the local government of Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, allocated over 50 million Yuan, or some 6 million US dollars, for a comprehensive renovation of the temple. The projects includes the renovation of a public square that covers over 5,000 square meters and a 300-meter corridor, construction of a fire exit, and the decoration of the ancient architecture.
