Shortcut reduces time to airport

The travel time from the city center to GuangZhou Baiyun International Airport could be shortened by up to 20 minutes once the latest section of the Airport Expressway is completed. The section connects two of the city's arterial roads, the Inner City Ring Road and the North Ring Road. The road would also greatly relieve traffic pressure on the Airport Expressway, Baiyun Boulevard and Huangshi Road, sources from the GuangZhou airport expressway administration said. Automatic electronic charges will be introduced at tollgates on the Airport Expressway and the Inner City Ring Road. In another development, the renovation of the Yongfu section of the Inner City Ring Road began Monday. The project, to be finished in January 2005, will connect the ring road and Shahe Flyover. |
