Siemens gets deal to build 60 high-speed trains for China

During Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to Germany, Siemens chief executive Klaus Kleinfeld and Chinese Railway Minister Liu Zhijun signed in Berlin on Nov. 10. a deal worth 669 million euros on 60 high-speed trains.
The trains will be jointly provided by Siemens Transportation Systems and Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Works.
200 meters long and with 600 seats, the high-speed trains, named CRH3, will travel at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour and will be first put into operation on the Beijing-Tianjin route from the year 2008.
The first three of the trains and the key locomotive parts will be designed and manufactured in Siemens' plant in Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany. The rest of the trains will be built in the Chinese plant in Tangshan, north China's Hebei Province.
Since established in 1993 in China, Siemens Transportation Systems has supplier of subway cars, signal, power supply and telecommunications systems to the cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen in China.
The Shanghai Transrapid Maglev Line undertaken by Siemens started operation in Shanghai last year.
