16-Mar-2004 - |
Singapore Airlines Ltd. Monday said it will increase its cargo flights to the U.S., India and Europe in a bid to raise cargo capacity. The world's second largest airline by market value will fly to Los Angeles nine times a week, up from seven, with the two additional flights routed through Xiamen and Nanjing in China. The airline will also fly to Chicago, with three of the flights routed through the two Chinese cities. Mainland China, dubbed "the world's factory floor," is also an increasingly important trading partner for Singapore, accounting for as much as 7% of exports from the city state. Singapore Airlines will also increase flights via India and Sri Lanka to the U.S. and Europe during its "summer season" starting March 28, the airline said. |
