|
22-Jul-2004 - |
Singapore Airlines is launching a weekly non-stop service to Cape Town, South Africa, starting from October 31 to cater to year-end holiday demand.
The new service will take 12 hours on the flight out of Singapore and clock in at 11 hours and 40 minutes on its return journey.
The airline is adding more flights to popular destinations in its Northern Winter schedule to cater to increased travel demand during the year-end holiday season.
The airline's Northern Winter schedule runs form October to March.
The airline will also be increasing capacity on other routes, either through additional flights or by using bigger aircraft.
It will add three additional flights a week to Brisbane, bringing the total number of flights per week to the Australian city to 17.
SIA will also add two more flights per week to Guangzhou, increasing the frequency to seven flights per week to the city in southern China.
The increased flights are "intended to cater to the increase in travel demand with the opening of the new airport in Guangzhou," SIA explained.
The new airport is expected to start operating from early August.
SIA said it will also be using larger aircraft on its existing flights to Hanoi, Vietnam.
The airline said it will stop its thrice weekly flights to Madrid from October 31.
SIA said it plans to replace its Madrid services with codeshare services of its Star Alliance partners.
