Singapore Airlines said on Friday it will launch a thrice-weekly flight to China 's eastern city of Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province. The service will start Sunday, making Nanjing the fifth Chinese city serviced by SIA. It will also be the only Southeast Asian airline to fly to the city. The carrier's total number of weekly flights to China will also increase to 88. SIA said Nanjing, with a population of 2.7 million people, is home to some of China 's most famous historical attractions. Commercially, Nanjing is not only an important hub for telecommunications in eastern China , it also serves as a gateway to cities like Yangzhou, Suzhou and Wuxi. Singapore has increasingly been looking at China for investment opportunities and as a source of tourists. |
