Singapore, Britain to enhance co-op in transport system

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore and Transport for London (TfL) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation Tuesday, aiming to share experiences in the field of transport systems.
According to a press release issued by the LTA on Tuesday, the two sides will "exchange expertise and policy perspectives in the areas of ticketing systems, congestion pricing, integrated transport systems, and bus location and traveler information systems."
They are also jointly carrying out a project to compare the overall transportation situation in a couple of cities in Asia and Europe.
TfL, a functional body of the Greater London Authority responsible for the British capital's transport system, has been sharing its experiences with LTA in using closed circuit televisions (CCTVs) in public transport system to enhance security, according to Channel News Asia report.
LTA is now conducting a feasibility study on the installation of CCTVs in public buses and expects to implement the major part of the security measure in the next one or two years.
Meanwhile, LTA is also looking at enhancing the security and recording capabilities of the CCTVs which have already been installed in the city state's Mass Rapid Transit trains and stations.
