Smart card tickets on track
|
3-Dec-2004 - |
Passengers traveling between Shenzhen and GuangZhou by train will be able to buy smart card tickets from next year. Once they are available, all procedures, including ticket purchasing and checking, will be automated, similar to the Metro system, the Guangshen railway company was quoted as saying Wednesday. Two types of smart card tickets will be available, including one that can only be used for one trip, and another one that can be used for multiple trips with a prepaid amount. A railway company spokesman said the interval between trains would be further shortened in the near future. At present, a train leaves Shenzhen for GuangZhou every nine minutes while an express train leaves every 15 minutes. A trip by express trains takes 55 minutes. The line between Shenzhen and GuangZhou is the country's first line to use smart cards. The company is soliciting designs for cards. Further information is available on Web site www.gsrc.com. |
