South China province posts increased foreign trade

The island province of Hainan, south China, recorded a foreign trade volume of 2.1 billion U.S. dollars in the first three quarters this year, up 10 percent from the same period last year.
The trade volume included 1.05 billion U.S. dollars in imports, slightly down on last year, and exports totaling 1.05 billion U.S. dollars, up 40 percent, according to Haikou Customs in the provincial capital.
Hainan's export commodities include aircraft and spare parts, machinery and equipment, natural gas, household electrical appliances, aquatic products and clothing, and it mainly imports iron and steel, mineral fuel and machinery and spare parts.
Hainan's major trading partners include the United States, Japan, Germany, France, the Netherlands, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
