People from China's Taiwan province show an increasing interest in traveling to the Three Gorges, as over 100 tourism workers and residents from the province began an eight-day tour Friday on this famous scenic spot along the Yangtze River, China's longest.
Since a Three Gorges tourism promotion began in February in Taiwan, a number of Taiwanese compatriots have shown their enthusiasm in traveling to the Three Gorges, according to a travel agency source of Taiwan.
More than 60,000 people in Taiwan had taken part in the tourism promotion activity in the province, in which they answered online questions, the source said.
The tour was jointly organized by the municipal tourism bureau of Chongqing and the Taiwan Travel Quality Assurance Association. It started in Chongqing Municipality and will end at the Three Gorges Dam in Hubei Province.
The Three Gorges, is well known for its gigantic hydroelectric project, one of the favorite destinations for tourists from Taiwan.
