Technology fair helps promote exchanges

Scientific projects from Taiwan and industrial co-operation achievements between Fujian and Taiwan firms were key attractions during the Third China Fujian Technology and Project Fair. The event, which took place from Saturday and finished yesterday, is an annual event in Fuzhou, capital of East China's Fujian Province.
But this is the first time there was a Taiwan exhibition section.
It drew more than 20 firms from Taiwan, bringing IT research projects and financing in a bid to seek exchanges and co-operation with mainland enterprises.
"Fujian enterprises are weaker than their Taiwanese counterparts in applied technology," said Lin Jialai, deputy director with the Fujian Provincial Bureau of Science and Technology.
He said the fair is therefore a good opportunity to improve the relationship between enterprises on the two sides of the Straits and upgrade the industrial structure of Fujian firms.
Jin Shisheng, chairman of Taiwan Zybor Group Co Ltd, told reporters that he had brought along five projects relating to electronic communication cables and purifying sea water, and hoped to find agents for his products in the mainland market.
Having talked with several mainland entrepreneurs at the fair, Jin said he was confident about the prospects of his products on the mainland.
The exhibition also showed the fruit of industrial co-operation in the three pillar industries of Fuijan automobile manufacturing, petrochemicals and electronics.
Also, at least 30 agricultural products from Taiwan were displayed at the fair.
According to the organizing committee, this year the fair showed more than 5,000 scientific research achievements from institutions and colleges both at home and abroad. These will help meet the requirements of Fujian enterprises in upgrading production technology.
The fair is also thought to be a good platform for exchanges among scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs.
