The south long-distance passenger transport station which is one of the hubs in Shanghai on-road passenger transportation is to complete the structure by the end of this year, totally finish then test in August 2005 and put into use along with the South Railway Station during the spring festival in 2006, reported the Labor Post.

As an important item approved by the Ministry of Communications and the municipal government, the station is following the national No.1 standard with a total construction area of 17,900 square meters, among which is a 2,000 square meters waiting hall, a 1,000 square meters ticket hall and enough parking area for 80 buses. The average throughput of the station is high up to 20,000 persons.

Another light spot of the station is the conjoint of the intelligentized ticket net, logistic net, vehicle flow net, inter net and OA net. There will be an extreme development and improvement in the service and manage systems of the station in order to meet the needs of the citizens and the Expro 2010 in Shanghai, noted Li Qiang, the manager of Shanghai South Station of Long-distance Passenger transportation Co., Ltd.
