13-Jul-2004 - |
Daniela Kelly, a samba dancer known as the Queen of Samba in Brazil, will perform daily at the Happy Valley park during the Maya carnival held from July 10 until the end of August.
Samba, which originated in Brazil, was and is danced as a festival dance during street festivals and celebrations across the world. The carnival will bring the Brazilian festivity live to Chinese visitors.
Kelly began dancing samba at the age of four and she established the OYA Samba Show Dancers troupe when she was 18. She led her dance troupe to win top prizes for two continuous years in 2003 and 2004 and was recognized as the Queen of Samba. The performances by her dance troupe are now popular around the globe.
If you visit Happy Valley during this period, you will encounter Kelly and other attractive samba girls, dressed in fabulous costumes, swinging in hot rhythms at the waterfront of Maya Water Park or in a daily carnival parade in the park.
As the sun sets and the limelight on, a grand water gala with Maya culture as the theme would be unveiled in the park, presenting the glamour of South American dancing and singing.
Samba dancers, guitarists and drummers will take the stage. Their passion will cheer the young and the old. Even the Chinese dressed in swimsuits will be dancing with them.
Besides dancing, visitors can take part in various activities in swimming pools, such as races, basketball and soccer scorings in water.
