Tianjin to improve infrastructure and environment with World Bank loans
|
25-Nov-2002 - |
North China's Tianjin Municipality plans to use 2.95 billion yuan (about 349 million US dollars) in World Bank (WB) loans for infrastructure and environmental projects. They include projects to build or upgrade roads, improve the city's sewer network, and to establish a technology research program on issues regarding urban development and environmental protection. A World Bank delegation is currently in the city to evaluate the proposed projects. The bank and the city government are expected to sign contracts for these projects which are scheduled to get underway next March. These will be the second World Bank loan projects for the city. In 1990, Tianjin initiated 18 infrastructure and environmental projects with 100 million US dollars in World Bank loans, and these projects were completed last year. |
