Tourism Resumes Along Sino-Vietnamese Border
|
5-Aug-2003 - |
Tourism along the Sino-Vietnamese border which had been interrupted because of the SARS outbreak in parts of China was fully resumed Tuesday. A ceremony was held Tuesday morning at a bridge linking a Vietnamese border town and Dongxing City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to mark the full resumption of tourism activities. Tourism officials in Dongxing said border tourism between the two countries was interrupted on April 20 when the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic hit Beijing, Guangdong Province and other parts of China. The travel ban was partially lifted in late July. Dongxing witnessed 320,000 Chinese tourists going to Vietnam and 26,000 Vietnamese tourists coming to China last year. |
