Tourism enterprise joins Three Gorges development

The Overseas Chinese Town Group (OCT), one of China's leading tourism enterprises, will be involved in tourism development of the Three Gorges dam area. OCT has signed an agreement with the Yangtze River Three Gorges Company and Yichang city government, to establish a joint-venture company with 150 million yuan (19 million US dollars) in registered capital. The new tourism company would provide quality services to tourists from home and abroad, as well as explore tourism resources in the Three Gorges dam area, said Zhang Zhengkui, senior official of OCT. The area would eventually become a first-class scenic area, combining natural and cultural beauty. The Three Gorges had many advantages in terms of resources, location and transportation. In recent years, as the construction of Three Gorges progressed, tourists increased rapidly. |
